Lawn Fertilizer

Fertilizing is a lawn care practice to help in the growth and development of the roots and grass blades. Proper ingredients, proper amounts and proper timing are essential in the success of your lawn care program. Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) are the three major nutrients needed by lawns and can be found in the front of every fertilizer bag. The amount needed depends of your grass type, the University of Illinois provide some useful information regarding fertilizer amounts. In general about 3 pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet is needed for most lawns in the Midwest.

We only use commercial professional products used by golf courses. If you need  the label of the product we use in your property please let us know and we will email you a copy. We keep records of every application and product we use.

We offer a 6 step lawn care fertilizer program to keep your lawn looking healthy and weed free all season long. Our program includes 6 fertilizer applications with free weed control if needed on every application. If included in your plan, a preventive grub control application is added in early summer to prevent grub infestation.

Our slow release granular fertilizer applications provide nutrients to your lawn for longer periods of time. Our liquid weed control applications provide better coverage than any other granular or dry applications, that is because herbicides have to be soaked into plants via their foliage.

We believe in an environmentally sound approach in the control of weeds, pests, and disease. We don’t believe in generic, all over lawn pesticide applications. Our program involves constantly modifying the treatment of your lawn based on what we see is happening.

Looking for one time applications?

We also offer one time fertilizer and weed control applications for those that do not wish to have a full season maintenance program. Just Order online and we will add your property to our schedule for one time application that comes with a 30 day guarantee!

Benefits of Fertilizer

Importance of slow release fertilizer applications

All of our fertilizer applications are granular slow release based. Slow release applications release nitrogen gradually over the course of several weeks, they last longer, minimize disease and reduces excessive lawn growth.

  • Improves grass color
  • Reduces weeds
  • Balances soil ph
  • Encourages growth
  • Reduces grass stress
  • Lower risk of disease

By fertilizing your lawn on a regular maintenance, you avoid bigger problems in the long run and minimize chances of grass disease and damage.

Do you offer organic fertilizer?

Yes, organic fertilizer simply means that the product has been processed at the minimum, and the nutrients remain bound up in their natural forms, rather than being extracted, processed, and refined. We have been using Milorganite with good results. During the summer, some customers switch to organic treatments.

This high potassium and slow release fertilizer formula improves drought tolerance, heat and disease resistance. Liquid weed control is applied if needed.

Early fall application – Fertilizer and weed control

This fall slow release fertilizer application with iron will improve turf color and density. Spot weed control if needed.

Last fertilizer application to prepare your lawn for hibernation. This winterizer lawn treatment will help turf store more food for winter survival, and to encourage thick and rapid growth and rooting in the spring.
